3. Apply for Specialist Surgical Training in ENT (ORL-HNS)
- Training is governed by:
- Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS)
- In collaboration with the Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (ASOHNS).
- Entry is extremely competitive. Applicants are selected based on:
- Clinical experience
- Surgical skills (prevocational)
- Research and publications

4. Specialist Surgical Training Program (FRACS – ORL-HNS) – 5 to 6 Years
- This is a formalised accredited training program through RACS.
- Rotations across major hospitals in Victoria and possibly interstate.
- Includes:
- Advanced surgical skills training
- Operative experience in ENT procedures
- Regular assessments and exams
5. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) – Otolaryngology
- Upon successful completion of exams and training, the doctor is awarded:
- FRACS (Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery)
- This grants recognition as a surgical specialist in Australia and New Zealand.
